New Kindle 3 has decent web-browserBlogKindle.com has just published it’s hands-on Kindle 3 Review. It has a lot of interesting things, including accurate screen contrast measurements, font size comparisons and even partial disassembly that reveals larger battery and some of the components used in the device. One of the major highlights is a much improved browser. According to the review it is sometimes more usable than smartphone and getting pretty close to usability of iPad. Can it be that in the future eInk will get fast, colorful and cheap enough to be used in netbook/tablet/eReader hybrid devices? Mirasol displays sure show some promise in that direction but we are yet to see anything more than prototype. 2 comments to New Kindle 3 has decent web-browser |

I’m very pleased with kindle 3. Here is my PERSONAL experience. I work for a mobile hydraulic crane company and to carry and use a laptop all the time would be cumbersome. So, for quick fact checking I use a smartphone and for wikipedia lookups I use my kindle. In my work environment there’s a lot of hurry up and wait so I can read a few pages of a book or browse wikipedia or reference various crane performance charts while I wait. A laptop would be somewhat impractical for this. I can put my kindle inside of my clipboard with the paperwork and use it on site in broad daylight or pretty much anywhere. The only thing that comes CLOSE to that is a netbook but it would surely lose in the portability and battery life department
I used my browser for the first time and now it is stuck on facebook, the first link i clecked on. Any suggetsions?
