Nokia Booklet 3G For $199.99

The new Booklet 3G from Nokia with built-in 3G and GPS capabilities

If you have been waiting for the Booklet price to go down, your wait is over. For a limited time period, the Nokia Booklet 3G is available for only $200 when you purchase as part of a contract from AT&T. Yes, the AT&T part is not very palatable but the price sure is. With this (approximately) $100 rebate form the original price, this is likely to be the lowest the Booklet will ever go. Of course, there’s no telling what will happen once the Booklet 2 launches.

There was a rumor some time back about the Booklet 2 being launched and that really stirred things up a bit in the netbook world. But it makes a lot of sense for Nokia to release a follow up to this model because the Booklet 3G is about to lose its context. There a lot of netbooks coming out these days with inbuilt 3G and people usually use their phone for GPS navigation. Because — let’s get real here, I do not want my view of the street blocked by the screen of a netbook when I am driving. That is just asking for trouble.

With the new price, the Booklet is now at par with the other offerings in the market that are 3G-enabled. That includes offerings from AT&T itself, along with Sprint and Verizon Wireless. In fact, this move may be seen by some as a way to sell off the remaining Booklet units for a new Pinetrail version that will be launched in Q1 2010 when the other companies are going to do the same. In that case, you might want to decide whether you really want to buy it right now. However, after buying this now, you can use it for till 2011, skip the next iteration and just buy the one after that once it goes on sale like this. Of course, You will have to be extremely patient. Hey, no one ever said saving money is easy!
